PUL-I-ALAM/QALAT (Pajhwok): Seven militants have been killed in two separate incidents of violence in central Logar and southern Zabul provinces, officials said on Tuesday.

Logar governor’s spokesman, Salim Saleh, told Pajhwok Afghan News a US drone struck a vehicle carrying suspected militants in Pangram area of Charkh district on Tuesday morning.

Two militants were killed and five others were wounded in the strike, he said, adding the dead included Pakistani, Chechen and Arab fighters.

Syed Anayatullah, a resident of Pangram district, confirmed the drone strike in their area, but had no details.

Separately, four Daesh rebels and one Talibaninfo-icon gunman have been killed during an operation in southern Zabul province.

Zabul police chief Col. Ghulam Jilani Farahi told Pajhwok the clearing operation was carried out in Sherana and Solan areas of Khak-i-Afghan district late on Monday night.

He said Khalid Akhondzada, a notorious Taliban commander, and four Daeh rebels were killed and several others were wounded in the raid. He declined to elaborate.
