PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): At least four people including a child were killed and 19 others injured in an explosion in Pakistaninfo-icon’s southwestern Balochistan province on Saturday.

A Frontier Corps (FC) vehicle was the target of the attack on Sariab road in Quetta, the provincial capital, Home Minister Sarfaraz Bugti said.

Two FC vehicles, three motor rickshaws and several motorcycles were also damaged by the blast.

Most of the victims were civilians and a child was among the dead, said Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police Abdul Razzaq Cheema, who believed it was a suicide bombing.

At least five paramilitary soldiers were among the injured. The DIG said additional evidence was being collected to ascertain the nature of the blast.

The entire Sariab road area was jolted by the powerful explosion. Shopkeepers pulled down their shutters and traffic on the road was suspended, Dawn reported.
