Work on key projects launched in Ghazni

GHAZNI CITY/MAIDAN SHAHR (Pajhwok): Work on three development projects, benefiting thousands of families, has been inaugurated in southern Ghazni province, the acting governor said on Saturday.

Musa Khan Akbarzada told Pajhwok Afghan News the projects included a 100-bed hospital, a power generator and the distribution of plots under a residential scheme to deserving people.

He said residents of Ghazni City would consume electricity of the generator until they were extended power from Kabulinfo-icon next year.

Electricity Director Jan Mohammad said the generators cost 300 million afghanis and would supply electricity to 7,000 families.

Elsewhere, tribal elders in the Jalrez district of central Maidan Wardak province on Saturday bought half an acre of land and donated it for the construction of a school building.

The governor’s spokesman Attaullah Khogyani said students of the Bibi Aisha High School were currently taught in a mosqueinfo-icon.  

He said the elders officially handed over the land to educationinfo-icon officials for the construction of a building for the school.

Haji Abdul Raziq, one of the tribal elders, said they bought the land for four million afghanis.
