Policeman, two attackers killed in Kandahar clash

KANDAHAR CITY (Pajhwok):  One policeman and two attackers were killed in a clash when militants mounted attack to force their way inside a police station in southern Kandahar on Thursday, an official said.

Zia Durrani, police spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News two militants attacked the 7th police check posts and they wanted to enter into the facility.

First, he said the attackers started firing and in the ensuing battle two policemen were killed. Police seized two kalashnikovs and several hand grenades after the firefight was over, he added.

Adul Wasay, a resident of the locality, said the gun battle lasted for half an hour and he expected the death toll of militants was higher than reported.

Talibaninfo-icon have not yet commented on the incident.
