Policeman dead, 23 wounded in Logar suicide attack

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): At least one person was killed and 23 other wounded when a suicide bomber targeted the Afghan Local Police (ALP) vehicle on Thursday in the Mohammad Agha district in central Lugar province, an official said.

Capt. Matiullah Sadiq Abdul Rahimzai, district police chief, told Pajhwok Afghan News a suicide bomber ploughed his vehicle into the ALP vehicle at around 2:30 pm on main Logar-Kabul highway.

Syed Naeem Agha Sultan, Mohammad Agha district chief, said eight policemen and seven civilians were wounded in the attack. Scores of residential area and shops had been destroyed in the blast, he added.

Salim Saleh, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News one civilian was killed and 15 others civilians and eight ALP personnel were been wounded in the attack. Some wounded persons had been shifted to Mohammad Agha hospital while some were shifted to Kabul hospital, he added.

Dr Naeemullah, a medic in Mohammad Shafiq Ludin Hospital, said 18 wounded persons were shifted to hospital with one of the wounded succumbed to his injuries.

Several wounded persons were stated to be in critical condition, he added.

Inayatullah, an eye witness, said: “A corolla car has hit another vehicle which caused a huge blast.” He did not have exact information into casualties.

Talibaninfo-icon have not commented on the incident as of yet. Police commander Meraj-u-din and his brother were also killed in the attack in recent past.
