Daikundi municipality robbed of 800,000 afs
NEILI (Pajhwok): Police in central Daikundi province on Monday said robbers breaking into the municipality had stolen salaries of all the department’s employees.
Col. Khuda Dad, Daikundi police chief, told Pajhwok Afghan News the incident took place in Neili, the provincial capital, on Sunday night when the thieves overpowered the municipality guards and entered the offices.
He did not give information about how much money was stolen but said police and attorneys had started their investigations.
Mayor Mohammad Nabi Sedaqat said the armed thieves robbed the municipality’s coffers late on Sunday night.
He said 800,000 afghanis were in the coffers and they were salaries of all employees. He said the investigation was ongoing to determine whether it was a robbery or other conspiracies.
The incident comes two days after armed thieves clashed with police, leaving one policeman dead and another wounded.
