4 civilians dead, 7 injured in Jalalabad suicide bombing
JALALABAD CITY (Pajhwok): At least 11 civilians suffered casualties in a suicide attack in Jalalabad, the capital of eastern Nangarhar province, on Monday, an official said.
Attaullah Khogyani, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News four civilians were killed and seven wounded in the suicide bombing inside a house in the 6th police district.
The house belonged to Shaista Khan, hailing from Pachiragam district, Khogyani said.
Nangarhar Civil Hospital Director, Dr. Ehsanullah Shinwari, confirmed receiving four dead and seven injured from the incident.
He said the injured were under treatment and he could not provide details about their health condition now.
An eyewitness, Mohammad Abbas, said the bombing took place as tribal elders from Pachiragam district met at the house. The tribal elders gathered in the guestroom of Shaista Khan.
The bomber first opened fire from his pistol and then detonated his explosives in the midst of the people and inflicted casualties on a number of civilians, the witness added.
No groups so far claimed responsibility for the attack.
