PUL-I-ALAM (Pajhwok): Five Talibaninfo-icon militants and a schoolteacher were killed during a clash with security forces in Mohammad Agha district of central Logar province, an official said on Sunday.

Mohammad Agha district chief, Naseer Ahmad Amin, told Pajhwok Afghan News that National Directorate of Security (NDSinfo-icon)’s ‘01 unit’ personnel stormed a residence where Taliban fighters were staying in Kotabkhel area of the district on Saturday night.

“The NDS personnel first asked the militants to surrender but they didn’t cooperate. Thus, a clash erupted.” About five Taliban insurgents were killed in the firefight.

Governor’s spokesman Salim Saleh said the insurgents had gathered at the home of a Taliban friend Muallim Tawus. “Tawus was a teacher at Kotabkhel girls’ school, who was also killed in the raid.”

A resident of Kotabkhel, Obaidullah, said: “It was around 12am last night when helicopters came and gunshots were heard.” He also confirmed the killing of Muallim Tawus along with some other Taliban gunmen.
