Kabul: Diesel, flour & sugar prices slightly jump

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): The prices of diesel, flour and sugar slightly increased and that of gold dipped during the outgoing week in capital Kabul, market sources said on Saturday.

Abdul Hadi, a worker at Wazirabad Fuel Station, told Pajhwok Afghan News the price of one litre of diesel increased from 41 afghanis to 42 afghanis while the same amount of petrol stood stable at 44 afghanis. He linked the hike in diesel prices to a decline in imports.

Ahmad Javed, a gas seller in the Sixth Taimani Road area, said the price of a kilogram of gas was 47afs. In food, the prices of only flour and sugar increased.

Food Traders’ Union head, Fazal Rahman, said that 49 kilograms of Pakistani sugar’s rate increased from 2,210afs to 2,220afs and 50 kilograms of Kazakh four from 1,150afs to 1,180afs.

Haji Rahmatullah, a tea dealer in Kabul Mandavi, said a kilogram of Indonesian green tea cost 220afs and the same amount of African black tea 240afs, the same rates as of last week’s.

Ahmad Massoud, who owns a grocery store in Qala-i-Fatullah neighborhood, sold a 50kg bag of Kazakhstani flour for 2,000afs and the same quantity of Pakistani sugar for 2,940afs. He sold a kilogram of Indonesian green tea for 350afs and the same quantity of African black tea for 400afs -- higher than wholesale prices.

Basir Ahmad, a jeweller in Lycee Mariam area, said the price of one gram of Arabian gold decreased from 2,300afs to 2,200afs and the same quantity of the Russia variety from 1,950afs to 1,900afs.

According to moneychangers’ union in Sara-i-Shahzada, one US dollar was accounted for 67.66afs and 1,000 Pakistani rupees for 634afs against last week's 67.50afs and 631afs respectively.
