Flour, ghee prices up in Kabul

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): The prices of flour, ghee and Russian gold increased during the outgoing week in the capital Kabul, market source said Saturday.

Food Traders’ Union head, Fazal Rahman, told Pajhwok Afghan News that the price of 49 kilograms of Kazakhstani flour increased from 1,180 Afghanis to 1,245 Afghanis and 16 liters of Khurshid ghee from 1,100 Afghanis to 1,140 Afghanis this week.

However, he said 24kg of Pakistani rice cost 1,850afs and 49kg of Pakistani sugar 2,250afs, the same prices of last week’s.

Haji Rahmatullah, a tea dealer in Kabul Mandavi, said a kilogram of Indonesian green tea cost 220afs and the same amount of African black tea 240afs, the same rates as of last week’s.

Ehsanullah, who owns a grocery store in Taimani neighborhood, sold a 50kg bag of Kazakhstani flour for 1,500afs and the same quantity of Pakistani sugar for 2,400afs and 24kg of Pakistani rice 2,200afs. He sold 16 liters of Khurshid ghee for 1,250afs, a kilogram of Indonesian green tea for 270afs and the same quantity of African black tea for 290afs -- higher than wholesale prices.

Abdul Hadi, a worker at Wazirabad Fuel Station, said one liter of diesel cost 41afs and the same amount of petrol 44afs, no changes compare to the last week’s prices.

Ahmad Javed, a gas seller in the Sixth Taimani Road area, said the price of a kilogram of gas was 47afs.

Haji Fawad Ahmad Salehzada, a jeweller in Timor Shahee area, said the price of one gram of the Russia gold increased from 1,800afs to 1,850afs while the price of the same quantity of Arabian variety stood stable at 2,300afs.

According to moneychangers’ union in Sara-i-Shahzada, one US dollar was accounted for 68.18afs and 1,000 Pakistani rupees for 637afs against last week's 68.10afs and 638afs respectively.
