Nearly a dozen Taliban perish in Kapisa gun-battle

MAHMUD RAQI (Pajhwok): Nearly a dozen Talibaninfo-icon insurgents were killed during a clash with Afghan Local Police (ALP) forces in central Kapisa province on Tuesday.

Police spokesman Mohammad Ayoub Yousufzai told Pajhwok Afghan News the early morning clash took place in Babakhel area of Tagab district.

He said the ALP personnel and local public uprising members put up a stiff resistance against the insurgents and killed at least eleven of them.

According to him, six militiamen, hailing from Babakhel area, were also wounded in the clash. The insurgents fled leaving behind dead of bodies of their colleagues in the area, Yousfuzai added.

A resident of Tagab district, Bakhtyar said, the clash lasted several hours with both the sides suffering casualties.
