President meets representatives of Hindu, Sikh minorities

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani has said special attention was being paid to the educationinfo-icon and social life of Sikh and Hindu minorities in the country, a statement from Presidential Palace said on Sunday.

The president said this during a meeting with representatives of Hindu and Sikh minorities here after the Eid-ul-Fitr prayer.

“Every strategy centred to the empowerment of educational and social sector shared it with us so we can take decision on the bases of that particular plan,” he said.

Ghani stressed over peace and stability in the country and said short-term security and economic development planes for Kabul city had been prepared through which multiple opportunities of work could be generated for the people.

Lawmaker Anarkali Hunaryar, representing the minority community, hoped and nation-wide peace could be prevailed in the country.

“The government achieved huge successes in the form of successful organisation of Kabul Process Conference and launch of air-corridor with India, a step that will further strengthen regional political and economic ties.

They assured the Sikh and Hindu communities fully supported Afghan security forces and stood by them.
