LASHKARGAH (Pajhwok): Police Chief of the Nad Ali district in southern Helmand province was killed in militants attack late on Saturday, an official said.

Governor spokesman Umar Zwak confirmed to Pajhwok the killing of district police chief.

Security official who wish to go unnamed said the district chief was on his way to Lashkargah, the provincial capital when attacked by rebels.

Earlier, Zwak said the district chief was injured in the attack and his vehicle damaged.

Militants have not yet commented about the incident. The slain police chief already lost three brothers who served in police.
