Nov 23, 2017 - 14:34

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): At least 43 militants have suffered casualties during an ongoing operation in Jalriz district of central Madian Wardak province, officials said Thursday.

Governor’s spokesman, Abdur Rahman Mangal, told Pajhwok Afghan News an operation codenamed, Khalid-96 was underway in the district since four days.

He said 26 militants including six commanders were killed and 19 others wounded during the operation led by Thunder Military Corps Commander Gen. Raziq.

Some weapons, ammunition, 12 motorcycles and a large amount of explosives also seized, Mangal said.

He added that 10 villages of Jalriz district were so far cleared of militants during the offensives.

He did not provide information about Afghan forces and civilian casualties.

A day earlier, Maidan Wardak officials reported that 34 militants were killed in Narkh district of the province but Talibaninfo-icon said those killed were students of a madrasa.
